Greetings,

A Buddhist memorial service will be held on Sunday May 6, 2007 for
Ulai Buapatcha a native of Thailand who died in Blenheim Ontario on
April 24, 2007. The cause of death still remains uncertain. This
death
follows the death of Phunsak Phathong on March 23, 2007 at the same
residence.

Mr. Buapatcha was a migrant worker employed at the Rol-Land Mushroom
factory farm near Blenheim and had been in Canada since June of 2006.

The friends of Mr. Buapatcha will hold the service at the Lao
Buddhist Temple 2001 Division Rd. N. in Kingsville Ontario.
Community members, co-workers and friends are asked to attend this
service for a person who travelled over 11,000 Kilometers to work
under the " Low Skilled Temporary Worker Programme" which has brought
an influx of off shore and world wide workers to Canada to obtain
temporary low paid work in the agricultural and other industries.

Derry Mckeever of the Friends of Farmworkers group says." We grieve
the loss of all workers and will support the friends and familiy of
this worker". He adds" While we search for answers about the
circumstances of this unfortunate second death we will not stop
asking that the federal or provincial governments step in to assist
with labour standards and regulations that will allow safety and
health to be paramount for both the migrant workers and the
communities they live and work in".

Donations of food and drink would be welcome at this service.

Friends of Farmworkers is a Chatham-Kent- Essex based volunteer
advocay
group for migrant and agricultual workers.
